Shaping The Future of Doulas and the Doula Profession

Who We Are

Allo Doula Academy is most comprehensive nationally recognized doula training organization in the United States. We are thought leaders shaping the future of doulas and the doula profession.

Our Mission

To provide education, support, professional development, and growth opportunities to the doula community, elevating the work to a widely recognized profession. We equip our doulas with everything they need on a professional and individual level to deliver exceptional full-spectrum care + foster ongoing community to families they work with. We aim to fill in the care gap between provider and client, client and family, and family/friends/client.

Our Story

After experiencing numerous training and certification programs in the doula space, Sarah Lind and Sarah Dominguez realized each program had different but comprehensive knowledge and skills gaps.

Their personal experience, coupled with their work with new doulas looking for mentorship and additional training, led them to create a new full-spectrum introductory doula training.

Together with a team of clinical professionals and birthing experts — ranging from OBGYNs and RNs to midwives and healthcare researchers — they developed an introductory two-day program covering birth and postpartum care.

While the two-day training met industry standards and was well-received by participants, it became clear that there was something missing from the industry: a comprehensive training that could serve as the doula education standard nationwide.

It was time to build a more in-depth, full-spectrum alternative that would encompass development of necessary skill sets, personal and professional growth, and a deeper understanding of providing support for families in many different settings.

Thus, Allo Doula Academy was born.

Our signature 200-hour Certified Professional Doula™ Program, unlike others available, addresses topics from pregnancy to birth, to postpartum and newborn care, and also includes support for fertility, adoption, abortion, end-of-life, perinatal loss, PMADs, trauma, and child development. Our trainings are the first of their kind to provide in-hospital clinical experience, and an extensive module on business foundations and professionalism.

Our two-day introductory training has now become our Two Day Doula Intensive, providing our students with the full-spectrum, comprehensive knowledge they need to succeed in the industry, in a condensed time format.

We believe that doulas are an integral part of the community they serve, and aim to support them professionally and personally through their journey.

Part of Allo Doula Academy’s mission is to bridge the gap between not only families and doulas, but provide doulas with a robust community of support, empathy, and resources as their career continues to develop. In addition to our training programs, we offer ongoing education to help our doulas stay current with care standards, provide mental health and emotional support to develop resilience, and aid our doulas in developing a thriving business — whether a newcomer or a seasoned pro.
